Shared play · planned

A little rivalry. A good reason to reconnect.

A familiar opponent makes a game feel different. The friend who always tries a new opening. The person who taught you to play. We want Chess, again to make room for that part of the game, too.

Follow the project

A familiar name across the board.

Through planned connected play, we want to make a game with a friend feel easy to return to. Available challenge types, time controls and platform requirements will depend on the integrations we can support. We will share the practical details before asking anyone to buy a device.

Share a board in the same room.

A local two-player mode is part of the roadmap. We are exploring how turn-taking, board orientation and physical input could work when a single handheld is shared. The intention is a simple game together, without requiring a full-size board at the table.

Good company comes first.

Not every shared game needs to be a serious competition. A few moves over breakfast or a practice game with someone learning can be enough. We are interested in a device that makes those moments easy to begin, with the final shared-play experience shaped by testing and feedback.

A couple of useful questions.

Will both players need a device?

Requirements for online and local shared play have not been finalised. Local two-player play on one device is a design goal.

Can I challenge a Chess.com or Lichess friend?

That is part of our connected-play direction. Supported friend challenges will be confirmed when integrations are ready.
