White and dark titanium studies

A finish for the way you make room for chess.

White, warm and understated. Dark titanium, a deeper satin colour. These finish studies explore how the same handheld could feel at home in different surroundings. The renders show our design direction; final colours, textures and enclosure materials remain to be confirmed.

White: soft, simple, familiar.

The white study gives the handheld a quieter presence, with a matte enclosure and a pale circular touch disc. We are considering moulded materials such as PC/ABS for this direction. The appeal is a shape that feels approachable, with enough contrast to keep the board and its controls easy to find. The final texture, colour consistency and durability need physical samples.

Dark titanium: a colour direction.

The darker render explores satin charcoal, fine surface texture and restrained edge highlights. Dark titanium describes the look; it does not promise a solid titanium shell. We are evaluating coloured polymers and aluminium options, with comfort, weight, wireless connectivity and production cost all part of the decision. Any metal construction would need its own tested design.

A touch surface with a job to do.

The circular trackpad should feel comfortable beneath a thumb and let you follow a selection without covering the board. We are exploring a separate nonmetallic surface for capacitive sensing, whether the surrounding enclosure is moulded or metal. Surface thickness, texture, finish and sensitivity need to work together. The images illustrate a smooth touch disc, not a finished sensor or mechanism.

A couple of useful questions.

Is dark titanium made from titanium?

It is currently a colour concept. Enclosure material is not confirmed. We will describe the actual material clearly before orders open.

Can I choose a colour when I join?

There is no product order or colour reservation yet. Both finishes are studies to help shape the design, and the available launch options will be confirmed later.
